  11. Don't worry about the delete option not changing the size of the file - this is the
  12. only practical way to deal with realtime disk insert/delete management on such large
  13. files, otherwise you would be waiting a week between each keystroke. The idea (like
  14. ID's own stuff) is to invalidate a directory entry, and reuse it without removing
  15. the original file from the WAD. New stuff just gets tacked on the end for speed.
  16. When the WAD is complete, or near completion, you run it through an optimiser to
  17. chuck away duplicates and void data. Dave has not done this bit yet.

  19. I can assure you the alternative is painful, unless we load the lot to RAM first,
  20. and that has it's own set problems (like free RAM, and virtual disk mapping).

  22. The insert/delete stuff is now working fine, and I'll try to get Dave to upload the
  23. latest version soon.
